Gallium is 5.91 g/cm³ — six times the density of water — so 100 grams is about 17 mL of liquid. Compact and considerably heavier than it looks.

Why 100g is the useful size

Solid or liquid on arrival?

Either, depending on the weather. Gallium melts at 29.8°C, so in a warm month it will very likely arrive liquid. This is completely normal and nothing is lost — put the sealed vial in the fridge and it resolidifies. To melt it, stand the vial in warm water.

Handling

Gallium is non-toxic and safe to handle with normal care. Wash your hands afterwards and don't ingest it. Keep it out of reach of small children.

Keep it away from aluminium. Gallium permanently embrittles aluminium and the damage cannot be reversed. It also stains fabric and porous surfaces.
