Our best value per gram, and the size that makes sense for repeat use. One kilogram of 99.99% pure gallium at $1.60/g — against $2.02/g at 250g and $2.80/g at 20g.

This is the research, industry and institutional quantity: laboratories running ongoing work, universities supplying multiple departments, and schools that would rather buy once than reorder every year.

What you get

  • 1kg of 99.99% (4N) pure gallium in a sealed container
  • A Safety Data Sheet, supplied with every order as standard
  • Certificate of analysis with lot number and assay, available on request

Gallium is dense — 5.91 g/cm³ — so a kilogram is only about 169 mL. It is a good deal smaller than most people picture, roughly the volume of a coffee cup.

Where a kilogram gets used

Temperature calibration. Gallium's melting point is a defining fixed point on ITS-90 at 302.9146 K, which is where 4N purity genuinely matters rather than merely sounding good.

Liquid metal research. Thermal interface work, soft robotics, stretchable conductors and alloying — see gallium for science. If you need a room-temperature liquid rather than one that must be warmed, look at GaInSn eutectic instead.

Repeat teaching use. Gallium is not consumed by melting and resolidifying. A kilogram divided into working vials serves a science department indefinitely.

Availability and lead time

When this size is in stock it dispatches from Perth within 1–3 business days like everything else. If it is showing as sold out, contact us — we restock this size to order and can usually give you a firm date.

Quantities above 1kg are available to universities, research institutions and industrial buyers on request. Contact us for a written quote — we can generally better the online rate on volume.

Handling

Gallium is non-toxic and safe to handle with normal care. Wash hands after handling and don't ingest it.

Keep it away from aluminium. Gallium permanently embrittles aluminium and the damage cannot be reversed — at this quantity that warrants real attention to where it is stored and decanted. It also stains fabric and porous surfaces. Store sealed and below 29°C where practical.

For institutional buyers

We invoice against ABN 42 883 208 403 and accept school and university purchase orders. Written quotes show ABN, quote number, ex-GST line pricing, freight and a validity date. See for schools and universities.

Shipping and delivery

Dispatched from Perth, Western Australia within 1–3 business days. We ship Australia-wide by Australia Post with tracking on every order. Shipping is $9.95 flat, and free on orders of $250 or more.

We send a maximum of 1kg of gallium per parcel, so a larger order arrives as more than one parcel, sometimes on different days, at no extra cost. We ship within Australia only.

Returns

If something is not right, contact us within 30 days and we will sort it out. Please get in touch before returning anything so we can arrange it properly.

Gallium often arrives liquid in warm weather. That is normal and not a fault — chill the sealed container and it will resolidify.

Common Questions

Is gallium safe?

Yes — it is non-toxic and safe to handle with normal care. Wash your hands with soap and warm water afterwards, and keep it out of reach of small children. Keep it away from aluminium: gallium permanently embrittles aluminium, and the damage cannot be reversed.

What documentation comes with my order?

A Safety Data Sheet is supplied with every order, as standard — you can also download the current SDS (PDF) at any time. Our gallium is 99.99% (4N) pure. Certificates of analysis are available on request for schools, universities and other institutional buyers — just ask when you order.

How do I clean it up?

If it solidifies on a surface, warm it with a hair dryer until it melts and wipe it up with a paper towel. Warm soapy water helps with any residue. Don't use aluminium foil or aluminium tools to scrape it.
